Privacy Policy
Minimalist Workout is a private, offline workout log. Your training data lives on your device and nowhere else.
The short version
There is no account, no login, no server, and no cloud sync. Everything you log stays in a database on your phone. The app does not collect, transmit, sell, or share your workout data. The only data that ever leaves your device is anonymous crash diagnostics (so we can fix bugs) and anything you deliberately choose to share.
What data the app stores
Everything you create in the app. Workouts, exercises, sets, weights, reps, notes, templates, blocks, and imported activities. Is saved locally on your device in an on-device SQLite database.
- No account is required and none is created.
- No server receives your data; the app has no backend.
- There is no cloud backup or cross-device sync built into the app.
- Your data is only as portable as your device. See Deleting your data below.
Crash and error diagnostics
To keep the app stable, we use Sentry to capture automatic crash and error reports. When the app crashes or hits an unexpected error, Sentry sends a diagnostic report that contains technical information such as:
- The error message and stack trace (where in the code the problem occurred).
- Your device model and operating-system version.
- The app version and build.
These reports do not include your workout content. No exercises, weights, reps, notes, photos, or imported files. Sentry processes this diagnostic data in the European Union (EU region) on our behalf, solely to diagnose and fix problems. It is not used for advertising or profiling.
Photo library access
The app can ask for access to your photo library for two optional reasons only:
- To let you pick a background image for a workout share card.
- To save a share image you create back to your photos.
Photos you pick are used on-device to compose the image. Nothing is uploaded. If you never use the share feature, the app never needs your photos.
Importing activity files
You can optionally import GPX or TCX activity files (for example, a run recorded by another app) by choosing a file yourself. The app reads the file you select and stores the activity locally alongside your other data. These files are processed entirely on your device and are not transmitted anywhere.
Sharing is always your choice
Your data never leaves your device except through a share you explicitly initiate. For example, saving or sending a workout share card. When you do, you decide where it goes (Messages, a social app, your photo library, and so on). We don't see it, and we don't keep a copy.
No analytics, ads, or tracking
The app contains no advertising, no analytics SDKs, and no third-party tracking. We do not build a profile of you, and we do not sell or rent any data to anyone. On the App Store, the app's privacy disclosure is “Data Not Collected”, with the sole exception of the crash diagnostics described above.
Children's privacy
The app does not collect personal information from anyone, including children. Because there is no account and no data collection, no personal data about children is gathered or stored on our systems. If you are a parent or guardian and have questions, contact us at the email below.
Deleting your data
Because your data lives on your device, you are always in control of it:
- Uninstall the app to remove its on-device database and all workout data with it.
- Use the in-app option to clear your data where available, to reset the app without uninstalling.
Crash diagnostics already sent to Sentry are retained only as long as needed to investigate issues and are then discarded. To request deletion of any diagnostics associated with your device, email us.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, we'll update the effective date at the top and post the revised version at this URL. Material changes will be reflected here before they take effect.
