Common questions

Does the app work offline?

Yes. Completely. Minimalist Workout has no account and no server. Everything runs on your device, so you can log workouts on a plane, in a basement gym, or anywhere with no signal.

Where is my data stored, and how do I back it up?

Your workouts are stored locally on your phone. Because the app has no cloud sync, the simplest way to protect your history is to keep your device backup on. An encrypted iCloud or iTunes/Finder device backup includes the app's data, so restoring your phone (or setting up a new one) brings your workouts back. Deleting the app removes its local data, so back up before uninstalling.

How do I restore my data on a new phone?

Restore your new device from an iCloud or computer backup that was made while the app was installed. Your workout history comes back with the rest of your apps' data. (There is no separate in-app cloud login to sign into. That's by design.)

How does sharing a workout work?

You can turn a finished workout into a share card. Optionally pick a background photo from your library, then save the image to your photos or send it through any app on your phone. Sharing only happens when you tap to do it. Nothing is posted automatically, and nothing is uploaded to us.

How do I import a run or GPX file?

If you have an activity recorded elsewhere as a GPX or TCX file, use the import option and choose the file from your device. The app reads it on-device and adds the activity to your log. The file stays on your phone. It isn't sent anywhere.

How do I report a bug or request a feature?

Email us at the address below. It helps a lot if you include your device model, your iOS version, the app version, and a short description of what you did and what happened. The app also sends anonymous crash reports automatically, but a note from you always speeds things up.

How do I delete my data?

Use the in-app clear data option where available, or simply uninstall the app to remove its on-device database entirely.
